Almost brand new GTI
on October 06, 2025, 04:23:50 pm
Maybe for somebody who’s Looking for a GTI

I don’t know how this works but a YouTuber “Saving Salvage”
is giving a GTI away on “Compete for cars”
Looks like it has been in a timecapsule…
Don’t shoot me of how this “Compete stuff” is working😅
Hopefully sombody can be the owner of this nice & clean example 😎👍🏻

For some reason I can’t upload a screenshot of it on here now?!?🙄
Go check it out on YouTube…

I have a jap spec mk5 gti, as you can tell by the name lol, and I hate the rear valance. I’ve searched far and wide for a jap spec rear valance. I cannot find one. Anyone got any ideas of what I can do?

Welcome & indeed a very fun car to drive :happy2:😉
Enjoy it! And as mentioned above… keep an eye on timingbelt, camfollower & chain.
Plug a scantool on it. Regular fluid changes for engine and gearbox… and you’ll have fun forever😊

Plugs have been out, they look fine. Swapped those around too. Compression test i’ll do tomorrow although i doubt its low on compression simply because of the way its running, theres definitely no power loss and no smoke.

Sports cat or decat recommendations, 1.6 FSI
Last Poster: jake in Performance Modifications on October 27, 2025, 07:31:59 pm
I have a MK5 1.6 FSI and it currently has a cat back exhaust on at the moment, i have done a bit of research and noticed it has 2 cats should I:

A: get a full cat system

B: only change one of them

I have looked for both but I cant seem to find any. what would be recommended that isn't too expensive.

#1000 now sold to a local lad almost at 180,000 and still going strong. The wings need doing and it was my daily. Can’t say how much I enjoyed this car but needed something softer  Bought a 2018 MK7.5 GTI Performance. Loving the comfort.

Finally got some time to fix my rattling sunroof. Took the whole thing out along with the blind, gave everything a good clean, some silicone protector for the rubber seal and ptfe dry lube for the rails. Happy to say the rattle is gone, drove around the block for a bit and I can'#039t hear the damn thing.

Just the dash rattling remains, between 1700-2200 RPM so you can ALW

Quantum Platinum Plus 5w40 is made by Fuchs and quite cheap too.  I think it was about £20 all in from TPS maybe a couple more £ from a dealer.

Straigth after the engine dies, it wont turn on but all the usual electrical stuff works and the starter turns the engine but it wont just start.
